What is the Reading Portfolio?
The portfolio is a reading packet with passages and questions provided by the English Language Arts Department.
*Contains 14 passages with a variety of genres.
*Some passages are single and while the majority are paired.
*Not timed.
*Provides multiple opportunities during the 3rd Nine Weeks Grading Period to compile evidence of students' reading mastery.
*Administered on Tuesdays and Thursday, unless there is a conflict with a school activity or holiday.
*Testing begins at 9:00 a.m.
*Students will receive a Reading grade for each passage (Fresh Reads).
*Will be used for promotion to 4th Grade.
- A practice packet will be sent home for extra practice. Please ensure students are going back, underlining their answers, and numbering what question the answer belongs to. This packet will be checked in class and reviewed on the due date.

i-Ready Reading and Math Home Learning
*Weekly assignment: 45 minutes minimum of each - Reading and Math starting on 9/30/24.
*Assignment begins Monday ends on Sunday night
*Goal: 75% or higher
*Students who fail a lesson must repeat the lesson even if they go over the 45 minutes.
*Reports will be printed every Monday and students will receive a completion grade for each subject.
*Assignments not completed within the designated time will result in a zero (no make-ups will be allowed).

Headphones
Students must bring headphones daily. Please place it in the bookbag, inside a ziploc bag with your child's name on it.
Before and After School Care
*Contact Nivia or Janessa in the After-School Care office for more information.
Meals
*M-DCPS provides a free, nutritious breakfast and lunch for all students.
*Please bring a water bottle daily. Students are able to refill their bottles throughout the day.
Parental Involvement
*All school volunteers must register online every year.
